Under new immigration laws announced in this year’s Queen’s Speech, private landlords will have to vet all prospective tenants.

Landlords will be legally responsible for checking the immigration status of potential tenants.

Much criticism has been raised at these new proposals. Some see it as a yet another potential way to discriminate whilst others claim it will be unworkable.
