New rules to apply to Bailiffs

Scales of justice

2014 will see new legislation introduced in an effort to regulate Bailiffs.

The new rules are to include:

  • Further restrictions on the type of property which can be seized
  • Certification and training requirements
  • Banning entry to homes where children are present
  • No ‘late night’ visits
  • Prevention of self regulating fees
  • Removal from the industry those who break the rules
